Location: 7th Street
on the south, 11th Street on the north. North Railroad Avenue on
the west, and North Dixie Highway on the east.
This subdivision was
platted in 1921 and the lots offered for sale by Southern Developers,
Inc., a firm consisting of Alfred Wagg and Bert Winters. The subdivision
was touted for its location just four blocks North of the courthouse.
The plat included warehouse sites adjacent to the Florida East Coast
Railway and business sites on Dixie Highway. The developers promised
that the lot purchase price would include rock streets twenty-four
feet in width, granolithic sidewalks and curbs, fifteen-foot alleys,
water, electric lights, and free title abstracts. This working-class
neighborhood consists primarily of single family homes representing
a variety of architectural styles.
